Delicious lamb chops in Whitechapel | ホワイトチャペルの絶品ラムチョップ

There are as many Indian restaurants in the UK as the stars in the sky. I'd never been hugely disappointed by any of those but hadn't found a super delicious one until I went to this Punjabi restaurant Tayyabs in Whitechapel for lunch the other day.

インドの宗主国だった英国には星の数ほどインド料理のお店があります。

どこに入っても大きくハズすことはないものの、絶品！とまでは行かない感じ。

ところがですね、先日ランチに行ったホワイトチャペルのパンジャブ・パキスタン系インド料理レストラン「Tayyabs」、めちゃめちゃ美味しかったー！

Especially the lamb chops! They came to our table with a sizzling sound. The very tender meat was nicely flavoured with spice. I grabbed the bone with my hands to finish the meat around the bone! It's interesting this kind of dish is a starter in Punjab.

特に、すぐにでもまた食べたいのが、こちらのラムチョップのグリル。

鉄板の上でジュージューいいながら登場。この音が食欲をそそりまくり。

スパイスの効いた柔らかい肉は、まったく臭みなし。

最後は手掴みで骨に付いた肉も余すことなく頂きました。

こんなガッツりしたメニューが前菜、なんですねぇ、パンジャブでは。

We chose three different curries with chicken, lamb and dhal (lentils).  They might look greasy but they aren't. All dishes were quite hot with chilli which warmed up my body.

The Tayyabs is located in a small street in Whitechapel. It was buzzy although it was a weekday lunch time. As a big mosque is nearby and a lot of people are in their ethnic costumes, it feels like you're somewhere in south Asia. The restaurant doesn't sell alcohol but you can bring your own bottles. I'll be there with a bottle of beer or two!

カレーはチキン、ラム、ダール（レンズ豆）をチョイス。

特にダールのほっこりした味わいに惚れました。

見た目は脂っこい感じですが、食べてみると案外あっさり。

どれも結構トウガラシが効いていて、身体があったまります！

ホワイトチャペルの裏通りにあるこのレストラン。

平日の昼間にもかかわらず満席で賑わっておりました。

この界隈、イスラム・センターがあったり、民族衣装の人々がぞろぞろ歩いてたり、ちょっとした異国気分を味わえます。

こちらのレストラン、アルコール類は置いてませんが、持ち込みはオッケーなようです。

次回は是非ビール持参で臨みたいと思います！
