In near future, people living in The City are obliged to have their partners and single people are sent to The Hotel where they have to find partners within 45 days otherwise they will be turned into animals of their choices and left in The Woods...The main character of this quirky film David (Colin Farrell) was sent to The Hotel after his wife left him. He was at The Hotel with his brother who turned into a dog some years ago. Under a lot of rules to follow, David tried to find someone but failed tragically and he ran away into The Woods. In The Woods, there was a group of singletons and he joins them. Although members in this group were not allowed to have a relationship with other members, David ironically fell in love with a woman (Rachel Weisz) in the group... This unconvincing story was made convincing by the director (his method reminded me of a Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki; deadpan characters, rather cheesy music, etc). I loved the cinematography which created a world between reality and fantasy.

時は近未来。

「都市」に暮らす人々は伴侶を持つことを義務付けられている。

何らかの理由で独身になった人は「ホテル」に送られ、45日以内にお相手を見つけなければならない。見つけられなかった場合は、動物に変えられて「森」に放たれることになる（どの動物に変えられるかは、自分で選ぶことができる） 。

主人公のデイビッド（コリン・ファレル）は妻に去られ、「ホテル」へと送られます。数年前に犬に変えられた兄（弟かも）と一緒に。
この「ホテル」の支配人をオリヴィア・コールマンが演じていたのですが、いいアジ出してましたねぇ。
規則だらけの「ホテル」で相手を見つけようと奮闘するデイヴィッドですが、上手くいかず、「森」に脱走します。
「森」にははぐれ者のおひとりさま集団がいて、そこに合流するデイビッド。
このおひとりさま集団は恋愛禁止なのですが、皮肉にもデイヴィッドはある女性（レイチェル・ワイズ）と恋に落ちてしまって。。。

。。。という奇想天外なストーリーのこの映画、アキ・カウリスマキを思わせる演出（無表情、セリフ棒読み、そしてゆるーい音楽）が効いていて妙な説得力がありました。さらに、現実と空想の境目のような映像で、寓話を観ているような趣も。

角刈りでダサダサなベン・ウィショーが、衝撃的でした（笑）
